Some people’s personalities fit on a T-shirt: pickleball, and one very specific dog. If you’re shopping for one of them, this guide covers the gifts that feel personal without being a gamble, at three price points, plus the practical things every regular player goes through.
Transparency note: PawsNPaddles designs and sells the breed-specific tees, mugs and stickers in this guide. The practical picks further down are general ideas, not paid placements, and don’t link to any brand.
The short version
- Under $10: a breed sticker for their paddle bag, water bottle or cooler ($9.99).
- Under $20: a breed mug for the coffee before open play ($16.99).
- Around $30: a breed tee they can wear on court ($29.99 in S–XL).
- Useful extras: overgrips and balls, which every regular player wears through.
- Timing: everything is printed to order, usually 2–7 business days before it ships, so order early.
Start with the breed
The best gift for a dog person is specific. A generic paw print says “I know you have a dog.” Their dog’s actual breed says “I know your dog.” Every PawsNPaddles design is drawn around one breed, so the first job is working out which one.
- Not sure of the breed? Look at the photos they post, or ask a mutual friend. Owners correct the wrong breed quickly and with feeling.
- Mixed breed? Go with the breed they name when people ask. Most owners of mixes have a standard answer.
- Two dogs? Two stickers cost less than one tee and avoid picking a favourite.
Popular breeds
All 51 breedsUnder $10: a breed sticker
The easiest yes on this list. Each sticker is a 6 x 6 inch die-cut vinyl print of the breed design, and they end up on paddle bags, water bottles, coolers and laptops, which means their dog shows up everywhere they do. A sticker is also a low-risk add-on when you’re buying something bigger, or a way to include the whole doubles group without spending much.
Breed stickers
All stickersUnder $20: a breed mug
For the player who checks the court schedule over coffee, and for the one who needs coffee after losing the last game of the night. The mugs are 11 oz ceramic with the design printed on both sides, so it faces out whichever hand holds it. A mug is also the safe choice when you don’t know their shirt size.
Breed mugs
All mugsAround $30: a breed tee
The gift they’ll wear to open play, where it doubles as a conversation starter (“Is that a Corgi with crossed paddles?”). The tees are a lightweight unisex jersey (Bella+Canvas 3001) in Natural, Black, Navy or Dark Grey Heather, sizes S to 3XL. S through XL are $29.99; 2XL and 3XL cost a little more.
Get the size right the first time. Each tee is printed for that order, so a size swap isn’t a simple exchange. The easiest trick is to measure a T-shirt they already like, laid flat, straight across from armpit to armpit, then pick the closest size: S is 18 inches, M 20, L 22, XL 24, 2XL 26 and 3XL 28 (Bella+Canvas’s published measurements for this tee).

Practical gifts every player uses up
These aren’t dog-themed, but they’re the things regular players go through. A quick look in their bag, or a question to their usual partner, tells you which type to buy.
- Overgrips. They wear smooth and get sweaty. A fresh pack is a small, genuinely welcome upgrade, and they fit any paddle.
- Balls. Outdoor balls crack and go soft with use, so spares are never wasted. Check whether they play indoors or out, and which ball their group or league uses.
- A paddle cover. It protects the face and edge guard in a crowded bag.
- Sun protection. Outdoor play means hours of sun: a hat, sunglasses they can play in, sunscreen that doesn’t run into their eyes.
- Skip the paddle and the shoes unless you know exactly what they want. Both are personal, and the wrong one gets returned or sits in a closet.
What makes a pickleball gift feel unique
Unique rarely means unusual. It means the gift could only have been bought for them. Their dog’s breed does most of that work. Their game does the rest: the early-morning regular gets the mug, the player who never misses league night gets the tee, and the one who has stickers on everything gets another sticker. Pair one personal thing with one practical thing and you have covered both what they love and what they use.
A note if the dog comes to the courts
Plenty of players would bring their dog to every session if they could, but many parks and clubs don’t allow dogs on or near the courts. If you’re considering a courtside dog gift like a travel water bowl or a shade mat, make sure their usual courts actually welcome dogs.
Quick gift checklist
- Their dog’s breed (and a photo, if you’re unsure)
- Their shirt size, for tees: measure one they already wear
- Indoor or outdoor player, for balls
- How much lead time you have. Production usually takes 2–7 business days before shipping, and busy seasons run longer, so order early for birthdays and holidays. The details are on our shipping and returns page.
