Pickleball Gifts for Dog Dads

You know the type. He plays open play three mornings a week, and between games he shows people photos of his dog. Buying for him is easier than it looks: the gift just has to connect those two things, and be something he’ll use rather than display.

Transparency note: PawsNPaddles designs and sells the breed tees, mugs and stickers mentioned here. The other suggestions are general and not tied to any brand.

The short version

  • Match the gift to his habit: the pre-game coffee (mug, $16.99), open play (tee, $29.99 in S–XL), or the gear bag and cooler (sticker, $9.99).
  • Get the breed exactly right. Dog dads notice.
  • Add one practical thing he goes through anyway: overgrips or balls.
  • For Father’s Day (20 June 2027), order by early June.

Pick the gift by the kind of player he is

The early regular: a breed mug

If he’s on court before most people are awake, coffee is part of the routine. The mug is 11 oz ceramic with his dog’s breed printed on both sides, so it reads correctly in either hand. It’s the easiest gift here because there’s no size to guess.

The one who never misses league night: a breed tee

A tee is the gift other players will see, and it tends to start the “is that your dog?” conversation he enjoys. It’s a lightweight unisex jersey tee in Natural, Black, Navy or Dark Grey Heather. On the darker colours, the crest is printed with lighter outlines so the breed stays readable from across the court.

For size, measure a T-shirt he wears often, laid flat, straight across from armpit to armpit: S is 18 inches, M 20, L 22, XL 24, 2XL 26 and 3XL 28. S to XL cost $29.99, 2XL $31.99 and 3XL $33.49. Each tee is printed for its order, so a wrong size can’t just be swapped.

The gear organizer: a breed sticker

Some players have a system: paddle bag, cooler, water jug, all labelled. A 6 x 6 inch die-cut vinyl sticker of his dog’s breed fits right in, and at $9.99 it’s an easy add-on to anything else.

Getting the breed right

The breed is the whole point of the gift, and some breeds are easy to confuse. A German Shepherd and a Belgian Malinois are different designs, as are a Labrador and a Golden Retriever, a Collie and a Shetland Sheepdog, or a Great Dane and a Mastiff. If you’re unsure, a quick look at the photos he shares (there will be many) settles it. For a mix, go with the breed he names when someone asks.

One practical add-on

Pair the personal gift with something he burns through anyway:

  • Overgrips, which wear smooth after a few weeks of regular play and fit any paddle.
  • Balls, indoor or outdoor depending on where he plays. Outdoor balls crack; nobody complains about spares.
  • A towel or cooling towel for summer sessions.

What to avoid: a new paddle he didn’t ask for. Paddle feel is personal enough that even weight alone changes how it plays.

Ordering for Father’s Day

Father’s Day 2027 is Sunday 20 June. Everything here is printed after you order: production usually takes 2–7 business days, then shipping time is added. Ordering by the first days of June leaves a safe margin, and earlier is better in busy seasons. See shipping and returns for the details.
